DICKSON AND KRAUSE GRAB CAREER FIRST WINS AT DOG HOLLOW
For immediate release August 27, 2010
STRONGSTOWN, PA - Billy Dickson of West Decatur grabbed his career first
Townsend Gas and Oil Super Late Model feature win on Friday night at Dog Hollow
Speedway.
He wasn’t the only neat winner on Stoystown Auto Wreckers Trophy night as Matt
Krause of Brisbin originally finished third but picked up the win following post race
tech in the Brush Valley Tire Pure Stocks.
Repeat winners include Mike Pegher of Cranberry Township won the Zero Wrap
Fastrak Late Models, Chris Schnieder of Springdale copped the Stoystown Auto
Wreckers Street Stocks while Bob Pease of Blairsville won the Four Cylinder
Sidewinders main and Tom Pavelko of Cherry Tree earned another win in the
Modified Four Cylinders Main.
Rick Davis and John Britsky led the Super Late Models to the green flag with Britsky
taking the lead and brining Clate Copeman to second. The top two were setting that
pace, through several cautions, with Britsky maintaining the lead over Copeman but
on a lap 3 restart Copeman straddled the outside of the backstretch and lost several
positions, falling to eighth place, this put Billy Dickson in second and once again a
yellow flew on lap six.
On the restart Dickson lined up beside Britsky, and when Kevin Smyers waved the
green flag The duo of Dickson and Britsky were door-to-door with Dickson taking the
lead. Once he got the lead he began to pull away from all challengers as the best race
became the fight for second between Copeman and Sammy Stile, as they fought for
the second spot but when the checkered flag waved it was all Dickson grabbing his
career first stock car win, Stile was second, Copeman was third, Dan Lee turned in
another great performance with fourth and George Fultz came home fifth. Heat wins
went to Britsky and Copeman.
“I am so happy to get my first ever win at Dog Hollow,” Dickson said in the winners
circle. “I just tried to hit my marks and not mess up, and here I am. Man I am so glad
my win is here.”
Andrew Satterlee had the Fastrak Late Model feature in hand as he took the lead at
the start and held off Joe Moyer, Ken Herman, Bobby Cossell and Mike Pegher most
of the event, while sitting through many cautions, but with just one turn to go, a few
cars preparing to get lapped tangled and Satterlee got caught up in the crash and
ended up striking the jersey barrior protecting the light pole, ending his run.
With the restart upon the field, the new leader was Pegher who led the final two laps
and kept Herman at bay. The top five were: Pegher, Herman, Moyer, Mike Blose and
Cossell. Heat wins went to Pegher, Herman and Blose.
The Street Stocks hit the speedway with Tim Bish taking the lead from Matt Hugill at
the start and setting the pace. Bish was able to hold off the challenges of Chris
Schneider for the first nine laps but then it was the other way around, as Schneider
took the lead and held off first Bish then Nick Goss who worked his way from 12th to
the runner-up spot on the final lap, but Goss ran out of time. The top five were:
Schneider, Goss, Bish, Tyler Hite and Rusty Martz from 13th. Heat wins went to Martz
and John Kinsey.
The Pure Stock feature saw Justin Queen take the lead from fellow front row starter
Joey Petyak. By the third lap, Queen was second as Nate Smith took the lead and the
top two jockeyed for the top spot, but at the line it was Smith over Queen. While
they fought for the lead, Matt Krause and Marshall Detwiler fought for third and
fourth, little did they know it was going to be for the win, as both Smith and Queen
were disqualified in a post race tech.
Krause took the win with Detwiler, Jeremy Shaffer, Matt Summers and Petyak the
new top five. Heat wins went to Shaffer and Steve Huey.
“This isn’t how I wanted to get my first win,” Krause said in victory lane. “I guess I’ll
take it.”
The Four Cylinder Sidewinders were led to the start by Wes McKeel and Mike
Phillipson with Phillipson taking the lead and holding it for two laps before he drifted
to a halt and retired for the night. This gave the lead over to Bob Pease who held off
Lee Fitzpatrick the rest of the way, with Fitzpatrick actually leading on lap eight, but
Pease fought back and regained the lead and took the win. The top five were: Pease,
Ray Edwards from 12th, Fitzpatrick, Chris Yoder and McKeel. Heat wins went to
Pease and Edwards.
The Modified Four Cylinders were led to the line by Chris Hickok and Paul Little with
Hickok taking the lead and holding in until lap seven when Tom Pavelko took the lead
and held off Hickok for the victory. Hickok was second with Mark Maglet , Ashley
Britsky and Little rounded out the top five. Pavelko won the heat.
