COPEMAN FOURTH DIFFERENT DOG HOLLOW LM WINNER IN AS MANY RACES
By Terry Whetstone
Public Relations

For immediate release                                                                                                 June 14, 2013

STRONGSTOWN, PA – Clate Copeman of Greensburg copped his first Townsend Gas and Oil Super Late Model
feature Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway, making him the fourth different winner in as many races at the
Indiana County oval on American Classics Street Rods Trophy Night.

Mike Laughard of Twin Rocks picked up his first Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak Late Model feature of the season
while Jack Theys of South Fork won his first Myers Tires Four Cylinder Sidewinders main of the year.

Repeat winners include: Bryce Stephens of Huntingdon in the Precise Racing Products Racesaver 305 Sprints, Adam
Pletcher of Tire Hill in the Lias Tire Pure Stocks and John Hayes of Clymer in the Myers Tire Four Cylinder Modifieds.

Bobby Watt and Clate Copeman led the Super Late Models to the green flag with Copeman taking the lead and
setting the pace. Watt fell into second and Ron Delano was third. As the race proceeded a caution on lap seven
slowed the action. A rash of cautions between laps seven and 11 really juggled the field, as Copeman continued to
lead with Watt in second and the father/son duo of Ron and Brandon Delano putting on a show for the crowd.
On lap 10 Brandon Delano exited after making contact with a tire in the infield, Ron Delano dropped out two laps
later and Watt went off the backstretch, thus eliminating Copeman’s challengers from second to fourth. This put
Quintin Wyandt in second and John Britsky in third. While they were trying to reel in the leader, Mike Blose was
coming from the rear, for the second time in the night, as he was up to fifth and trying to pass Dwayne Taneyhill
when he got forced off the backstretch, but he kept control of the car and battled his way back to the top five by the
end.
As the race wore on again, Wyandt was closing in on Copeman, but he ran out of time as Copeman took the victory.
Wyandt, Britsky, Andrew Gordon and Blose completed the top five. Heat wins went to Blose and Watt.

Mike Laughard beat Tim Snare Jr off the line to start the Fastrak Late Model feature, and while Laughard led from
start to finish, he didn’t run away from Snare, who had to contend with new comer Michael Mitchell. When Kevin
Smyers waved the checkered flag, it was Laughard taking the win over Snare, Mitchell, John Eckenrod and Ron
Smithley. Heat wins were split between Laughard and Eckenrod.

When Bryce Stephens starts a race up front, his fellow competitors know he’s going to be tough and he was just
that Friday night, as he took the lead at the start from Jeff Bacha and never looked back, working the traffic like a
veteran, the 15-year old held off all challenges for his third win of the season. Steve Kenawell was second with
Bacha, “Cowboy” Jim Kennedy and Justin Zap rounding out the top five. Zap and Roger Irvine won the heats.

The Pure Stocks hit the track with Andrew Koenig taking the lead from Cody Colflesh at the start and he was setting
a torrid pace, but a few cautions gave Adam Pletcher the chance to not only catch Koenig, but eventually pass him.
Koenig led until lap 14, when Pletcher made an inside move off the second turn to take the lead and eventual win.
Koenig held on to second with Ryan Claycomb, Jason Bender and Jeff Shaffer completing the top five. Koenig won
the lone heat.

Jack Theys beat Chris Yoder off the line led the Four Cylinder Sidewinder feature all the way, but he had Yoder
hounding him first then on lap seven Bob Pease took second and set his sights on the leader. A red flag on lap eight
halted the race when Rick Lamer flipped off the backstretch. He was uninjured. The restart saw Pease continuing to
hound Theys, but Theys was able to hold on for his first win of the season. Pease was second with Yoder, John
Costa and Mike Phillipson completing the top five. Yoder and Lamer won the preliminaries.

It was all John Hayes in the Modified Four Cylinders, as he was able to best the filed of three cars with his second
straight win. Ashley Britsky was second and Tom Pavelko was third. Hayes also won the heat.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of
you, the fans, the drivers, and employees, for your dedication
throughout the years.  Due to the economy, I understand that
things are difficult and unfortunately dirt track racing in rural PA is
losing its place on the list of things to do.  Unfortunately this season
has seen a slow economy met with a decline in attendance and
drivers.  It is with deep regrets that I am closing the doors
effective immediately.   Thank You

James Michny
